What is involved in a consultation? We offer free consultations by phone or text to answer questions, review photos of your tattoo, discuss treatment options, and provide pricing estimates. Before any laser treatment is performed, an in-office consultation is required. At that visit, we review your health history, evaluate the tattoo in person, explain the procedure, discuss risks versus benefits, answer remaining questions, and confirm pricing. Clients under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Is there a fee for the consultation? Phone and text consultations are free. An in-office consultation is $75, which may be applied toward your first treatment if treatment is completed within 30 days. If treatment is not performed, the consultation fee is non-refundable.
How much will it cost to remove my tattoo? Pricing typically starts around $99 per laser treatment and varies based on tattoo size, color, location, ink density, skin type, and individual response. While estimates can be provided, it is not possible to accurately predict the exact number of treatments in advance. Each tattoo responds differently, and results depend on how your skin and immune system respond over time. Factors such as smoking, hydration, overall health, and aftercare compliance can affect results. We offer pay-as-you-go pricing, discounted packages, and unlimited treatment plans. Allowing more time between treatments often allows the body to continue clearing ink naturally, which can reduce the total number of sessions needed.
Is the process painful? Discomfort is minimized using a skin cooling system, which provides natural numbing during treatment. We also recommend icing the area for 15 minutes before treatment and taking ibuprofen about one hour prior. Most patients describe the sensation as similar to getting a tattoo, but much quicker. Others compare it to a rubber band snapping against the skin. We also provide fun stress balls and visual distractions, including artwork throughout the clinic, to help patients stay comfortable during treatment.
Will I have a scar? When performed properly and with appropriate aftercare, laser tattoo removal does not typically cause scarring. We utilize advanced laser settings, optional Erbium pretreatments, and R20 techniques when appropriate to reduce trauma to the skin. Following aftercare instructions is critical to proper healing and minimizing risk.
How many treatments will it take? The number of treatments varies from person to person and cannot be accurately predicted in advance. Tattoo age, ink type, color, depth, skin type, immune response, smoking status, hydration, and spacing between treatments all play a role. Some clients achieve fewer total treatments by allowing more time between sessions so the body can continue clearing ink naturally.
Do all colors of ink remove equally well? No. Black ink typically responds the best. Red, orange, pink, and warmer colors usually respond well. Purple and yellow can be variable but often remove successfully. White, flesh-toned inks, and some permanent makeup pigments can darken when treated and must be test-spotted first. Green and blue inks are often the most challenging; however, we utilize specialized wavelengths including 755nm Alexandrite, specifically designed to target green and blue pigments. We offer multiple wavelengths (532, 585, 650, 755, and 1064), which allows us to treat a wider range of ink colors than many clinics.
What aftercare is required? A healing ointment and bandage will be applied immediately after treatment. The area should be kept clean, dry, and out of the sun for the rest of the day. Showering may resume the following day, but the area should not be scrubbed. Bandages should be changed daily for up to 7 days. We recommend Bacitracin and offer transparent bandages for purchase. We work closely with a physician who can consult or prescribe medication if needed for concerns such as infection.
Is removal necessary for a cover-up tattoo? While not required, fading an existing tattoo before a cover-up greatly improves results. Lightening the old tattoo gives the artist a cleaner canvas and more flexibility with the new design, preventing the old ink from showing through.
Erbium / Laser Peels FAQ What else do we treat? In addition to tattoo removal, we offer advanced Erbium laser treatments for a variety of skin concerns. These treatments are designed to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity with precision and minimal downtime. Conditions we commonly treat include sun damage, age spots, discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. Each treatment plan is customized based on your skin type and goals.
Erbium laser treatments for face & hands Our Erbium laser is one of the most advanced resurfacing lasers available and is especially effective for treating the face and hands. These areas often show early signs of aging and sun damage. Erbium laser treatments can reduce brown spots, improve uneven tone, soften fine lines, and stimulate collagen while preserving surrounding healthy tissue. Treatments are precise, controlled, and safe for most skin types.
Scar Reduction Erbium laser treatments are highly effective for scar reduction, including acne scars, surgical scars, and traumatic scars. The laser works by resurfacing damaged skin and stimulating new collagen formation, which helps smooth texture and improve overall appearance. Scar improvement is gradual and continues as the skin heals and remodels over time. Multiple sessions may be recommended depending on scar depth and type.
Recovery expectations Recovery from Erbium laser treatments is typically shorter compared to more aggressive resurfacing lasers. Most patients experience redness and mild swelling for a few days. The treated area should be kept moisturized with ointment during healing. Many patients return to normal activities within 5–7 days, and makeup can usually be worn after about one week. Sun protection is essential for several weeks following treatment to protect new skin.
